Have You Seen My Home
The Petersons don't farm this field anymore Their little lot was the perfect spot for another big box store I heard they did well though, and took all that money Bought a house overlooking the sea. I hear peterson don't do much now Except drink and watch TV These grudges are heavy I think it'd be best if we rest a while We carry our hearts in shopping carts, walk up and down the isle Have you seen my home? I swear I left it right here. Ella Ray lives down on the corner, all alone her only child grew up to be wild and moved east to play jazz trombone I heard he does well and he sends his mom money but rarely spends time in town I wonder if he knows she forgets things and has trouble getting around Last week I ran into old crazy Jack He said, "I'm running for mayor, I'm going to open the square and bring all the old businesses back. I'm going to tell you something 'cause we've always been friends, but you gotta keep it just you and me. I'm gonna buy both the shopping malls, tear them down and fill them with trees" Can't say I make it down town much anymore It's a younger crowd, and their music's too loud and I miss the old general store And soon they'll build buildings that block out the sun and put satellites up with the stars. Some butcher gave my town a face lift, and I can still see the scars © André Villoch
